Giant Pacific Chiton

Cryptochiton stelleri is commonly known as the giant pacific chiton or the gumboot chiton. Most chitons only grow to be about 5cm but the gumboot chiton can potentially grow to be 43cm. It is a mollusk that lives from from the low tide line to up to 60 feet deep. During spawning season in may they are seen more often in shallow waters.
