Cladonia asahinae- grows on forest floor and will usually be found on dead logs. Lichen is a part of a symbiotic relationship with algae and fungus where the algae provide nutrients and the fungus keep the moisture. The plant has small cups (1/2 inch) that are used by pixies or wood fairies to sip the morning dew. If one needed too, the Pixie Cup Lichen could be consumed for nutrients. They have been used for didmyic acid which is used for some treatments of tuberculosis.
