Bearberry

Arctostaphylos uva-ursi- Commonly known as Bearberry is mostly seen on rocky, sandy, and dry soils as ground cover. Prefers areas with full direct sunlight or light shade. Blooming period happens from April through May. Plant produces a fruit called drupes which are green in the summer and turn to red in the fall. Sometimes berries can stay on a plant throughout winter. The berry is described as tasteless but many animals rely on this for food.
